Lyons Lions vs. Perry Yellow Jackets .::. Section V Class C2 Championship on FL1 Sports 3/5/18

Lyons junior Justice Smith scored 21 of his game-high 33 points in the second half of Monday night’s Section V Class A2 championship game between the Lions and the top-seeded Perry Yellow Jackets in the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. With his team trailing in the fourth quarter, Smith hit 3 three-pointers and went 4-4 from the line in the final period to lead the Lyons Lions the 18th sectional championship in their school’s history and head coach Zac Young his third sectional title.

Clyde-Savannah Golden Eagles vs. Honeoye Bulldogs .::. Section V Class D1 Championship on FL1 Sports 3/3/18

When basketball fans learned that Clyde-Savannah would drop from Class C2 to Class D1 this season, many assumed a Sectional title would be a given. After winning the Wayne County League for a second consecutive season, the Golden Eagles turned their sites towards sectionals, and a trip to the Blue Cross Arena. Waiting for C-S, was a surprising Finger Lakes West squad, the Honeoye Bulldogs who boasted two 1,000 point scorers and had their eyes on an upset after jumping out to a 13-8 lead at the outset of Saturday’s Section V Class D1 Championship Game.

Midlakes Screaming Eagles vs. Bath-Haverling Rams .::. Section V Class B Championship on FL1 Sports 3/3/18

The Midlakes girls entered the 2018 postseason with a perfect 20-0 record. Four games later in the Section V Class B Tournament they are still undefeated and now can call themselves Sectional Champions for the first time since 1975. Head Coach Nate Rich’s Screaming Eagles absolutely destroyed Bath-Haverling on Saturday evening at Rush-Henrietta rolling the the title with a 70-40 win in a game that wasn’t close from the start. After Bath-Haverling’s Jadyn Abrams opened the game’s scoring, Midlakes would close the 1st quarter on a 24-4 run and extended their lead to 41-19 heading into halftime before finishing the contest with a 30 point margin.
