At Grandview, Duane Howard flipped in his heat race, and started 27th. He rallied to finish 2nd, and wrapped up the track title and the American Racer Cup, his second in three seasons.

Sept 10 at 11:30 am, the DIRTcar Modifieds will parade through Syracuse, starting at Destiny USA as prep for Super DIRT Week.

Episode 42 .::. Step on it, and Go!

In a full show, we welcome esteemed guest Derak Covey, the track photographer at Utica-Rome Speedway and Fonda Speedway. Derak spent the whole night on the mic, and was part of the interviews with Frank Cozze, Matt Sheppard, and Kreig Heroth. Cozze, after winning Super DIRT Week moved to 410 sprints. He was third behind Daryn Pittman and Logan Schuchart at New Egypt Speedway. Sheppard won the Race of Champions Dirt Tour event Wednesday night at Utica-Rome Speedway. By way of two straight wins, Heroth sewed up his first career track championship in the Small Block Super Modified division at Oswego Speedway.

Jeff Hachmann of DIRTcar NorthEast stops in to pump Super DIRT Week, and Daryl Barrett acts as our field reporter at the Spalding Foundation’s Challenge of Champions II at the Seneca Grand Prix in Watkins Glen, featuring Allen Bestwick, Jeff Green, and Erik Darnell. He won his heat race, and then we lost track of him!

This week, we welcome Betty Sherwood of the Spaulding Foundation for Injured Drivers to the 31st Lap to talk a little bit about the plight of race drivers and what lies ahead for them if injured. Beth also talks about an upcoming fundraiser regarding for the Spaulding Foundation in Watkins Glen.

Mike Payne drops in by phone to talk about the season as owner of the successful No. 27J driven by Danny Johnson on the DIRTcar Circuit and at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.

We also catch up with Jamie St. Mary, a member of the reknown PowerTeam in northern NY as he prepares for the upcoming Franklin County Fair in Malone, NY. There will be a full-size derby up there on Saturday August 4.

Matt is a regular in the sportsman divison at Canandaigua Motorsports Park after moving out of the New Legends division last year. Frankie Guererri Jr. rounds out the quartet, and talks about his weekly battles in the New Legends Sportsman and pro stock ranks.

Sammy woke up Sunday with thinking his win was a dream and talks about his upcoming season in a 360 Sprint Car. Brett won his third straight at Lebanon Valley, and is the first driver to do that in 10 years. He also talks about the move of his ‘The Big One’ event to Albany-Saratoga.

In breaking news, Mike announces the Tom Ames Dedication to Racing event scheduled for full-fendered cars at Rolling Wheels Raceway July 3. The event will be for full-fendered cars, and will be 27 laps in distance, in honor of Tom’s favorite driver’s number, Danny Johnson (27J). DIRTcar is also working with Dirt Track Digest to make the event happen, and Mike expressed deep appreciation for that.
