This week, we turn our focus to the RC World. We will talk with Steve Salvas, race director at DirtCar Drummond, Granby and RPM Autodrome in Quebec, about the Salvas MudBoss racing division. The division is a new class that is taking shape at the Radio Hill Raceway in Dundee. It’s also a division at a few tracks in Pennsylvania, and Indiana. The eye-catching cars are based off the affordable Traxxas Slash 2WD cars, and Dan Pilat – among others – is wrapping the cars in vinyl to match several of DIRTcar and the northeast Modified scene’s top drivers. His brother, Eric Salvas, started the division and they each run the design for CustomWorks R. That company is owned by Tony Stewart, and features NASCAR-type RC cars.

In a twist, Justin Henderson joins Dean Reynolds in studio while Mike Mallett and John Baumes are off chasing racecars. Rich was out at a Soccer game. We visit with John Lazore of Mohawk International, Lance Yonge (2003, 04 ESS Champion), and Oswego two-seat SuperModified coordinator Roy Sova. Watch our most recent episode on FingerLakes1.tv | Listen on Stitcher
Lance won the last sanctioned race at Rolling Wheels, and is currently tied with Mal Lane for third with 36 career ESS wins. He’s looking forward to the July 3 event at Rolling Wheels, running in conjunction with the Tom Ames Dedication to Racing full-fendered event.
John Lazore talks about the challenges of renovating and running a racetrack, and discusses a different approach to promotions, being a former driver himself.
Roy Sova discusses the two-seater, and the Make A Wish program that will be working with an area youngster this weekend.
Larry Wight was schedule, but after a tough outing with the Late Model, we could not reach him and hope to get with him down the line.
Don’t forget the Live show July 12 at Amy’s Checkered Flag, and next week we’ll welcome Vic Coffey and Cody Bleau.
Larry Wight and Steve Poirier stop by to discuss the Methanol Meltdown and their plans for the 2012 season, we catch up on our Fantasy Racing teams with DickDragonMotorsports, we discuss Jarrett Andretti’s upcoming test session at Oswego Speedway and Davey Hamilton’s plans to race the Oswego Opener.
Dean Reynolds can’t let a sprint car discussion pass without chiming in, and becomes our second official spontaneous call-in (and helps spike our online viewership in the process).
We lose ourselves talking about the wonders of rental go-kart racing and the potential 31st Lap Outing at a local kart racing joint.
We also discuss a new ‘your topics’ segment… and need our listener’s input on Facebook.
Above all, we express our condolences to the family of Tom Ames, who passed away unexpectedly in a tragic car accident last week. Tom and Mike were friends way back in the Fire on Dirt days of Dirt Track Digest.
