When basketball fans learned that Clyde-Savannah would drop from Class C2 to Class D1 this season, many assumed a Sectional title would be a given. After winning the Wayne County League for a second consecutive season, the Golden Eagles turned their sites towards sectionals, and a trip to the Blue Cross Arena. Waiting for C-S, was a surprising Finger Lakes West squad, the Honeoye Bulldogs who boasted two 1,000 point scorers and had their eyes on an upset after jumping out to a 13-8 lead at the outset of Saturday’s Section V Class D1 Championship Game.
South Seneca head basketball coach Dan Lent and Dundee head coach Les Miller are in-studio on Sunday night to help preview the Finger Lakes West boys varsity basketball league in 2014-15. We’ll also recap the triple-header in Victor and reveal our updated Wayne-Finger Lakes Power Rankings.
We welcome Zac Young, Lyons head coach, via telephone to recap Wednesday night’s big win in Clyde to claim a share of the Wayne County League title. Also, interviews with Lyons’ sophmore Damon Hunter and Penn Yan’s big man James “The President” Burdett. The regular season wraps up and it’s ahead to Sectionals!
This week we discuss the news that Honeoye will forfeit the remainder of their games due to a hazing incident that resulted in head coach Jim Parshall resigning this week. Also, a look at the races in the Finger Lakes East and West and Wayne County Leagues heading into the final week of the regular season.
This week we welcome the newest member of the 1,000 point club, Ben Cratsley of the Honeoye Bulldogs who calls in to discuss his career achievement and the competition in the Finger Lakes West. Then, Brad Conner returns after a week off to talk about a rare Syracuse loss in December after the Orange’s defeat at the hand of Temple on Saturday. It’s our last show of 2012… spend an hour or so with us in-studio.
