This week, John Baumes and Steven Ovens are in studio to talk about NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series event at Eldora, and Mike Mahaney weighs in on his two-win weekend. Mahaney won the BD Motorsports-promoted Crazy 8s at I-88 Speedway in Afton, NY and held off Stewart Friesen in Sunday’s make-up feature at Utica-Rome.
This week, Jay Fish and Dean Reynolds fill in for John and Mike… and we welcome 16-year old Joe Trenca – the 2012 Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Rookie of the Year – to the program to talk about driver safety and running a Mucci-owned 360. Then, Lyle DeVore – the GM of Lebanon Valley and Albany-Saratoga Speedways – comes in to share the inner workings of the track manager’s lifestyle. We finish up with Gil Tegg Jr., who talks about his motorcycle accident, and his new appreciation and list of goals as he returns to racing modifieds and late models.
This week, Mike returns to the studio, we catch up with Hall of Fame 60 winner Stewart Friesen and runner-up Gary Tomkins, and then we chat with the winner of the USAC event at Grandview, Daron Clayton! Then, we dive into the potential replacements for Danny Johnson at the newly-opened seat at Mike Payne Racing, and the penatlies levied for a timing chain infraction in the crate sportsman division.
This week, we catch up with 15-year old William Byron, a US Legends Cars racer from down in Charlotte who has amassed a remarkable resume after cutting his teeth with iRacing. After that, we chat with Jeff Hachmann and Jay Fish of the Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame about next week’s Hall of Fame inductions in Weedsport June 4 and the Hall of Fame 60 at Rolling Wheels Wednesday June 5.
Mike takes the week off to play baseball with Oswego, Jay Fish of the Dirt Motorsports Northeast Hall of Fame stops in to welcome Rich back to the show, and John remains grumpy as ever. Kevin Ridley pops in to talk about his win in the sportsman division at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, the competition in the division and we take questions and comments from the live chat about who is and isn’t in the Hall of Fame.
For the first time, Doug Manmiller visits the 31st Lap, and Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame photographer and longtime friend of the show Jay Fish stops in for a live appearance. We also chat about our favorite tracks in and around the northeast, and career race/track/state counts.
This week, Mike John and Chris talk about the weekend’s racing, catch up with Bobby Varin his busy weekend out-of-state, and recount the action at NASCAR action at California Speedway that has left Denny Hamlin’s title hopes in question.

Sammy woke up Sunday with thinking his win was a dream and talks about his upcoming season in a 360 Sprint Car. Brett won his third straight at Lebanon Valley, and is the first driver to do that in 10 years. He also talks about the move of his ‘The Big One’ event to Albany-Saratoga.
In breaking news, Mike announces the Tom Ames Dedication to Racing event scheduled for full-fendered cars at Rolling Wheels Raceway July 3. The event will be for full-fendered cars, and will be 27 laps in distance, in honor of Tom’s favorite driver’s number, Danny Johnson (27J). DIRTcar is also working with Dirt Track Digest to make the event happen, and Mike expressed deep appreciation for that.
This week, we chat about NASCAR’s banquet plans in Las Vegas and the DIRTcar Banquet, Matt Sheppard’s second-straight title and the viability of Sportsman cars as a premier class in Central New York. Mike was missing-in-action. Sorry, Mike!
