This week, we welcome I-88 Speedway Track Champion Mike Mahaney back to the 31st Lap to discuss his stellar season. Then, we catch up with Jeff Strunk in the wake of his fifth career Freedom 76’er victory in the 43rd running of the event at Grandview Speedway before turning to DIRTcar NE Marketing Director Jeff Hachmann for an update on Super DIRT Week.

Episode 52 ..::.. Three-Peat

We catch up with Matt Sheppard and talk about his third consecutive Mr. DIRTcar Modified Championship. Sheppard stands as the first driver to ever win three straight Mr. DIRTcar Modified titles. He also reveals plans to race at Black Rock Speedway between Friday’s Canandaigua Motorsports Park banquet and the DIRTcar Northeast banquet Saturday night.

We also preview our live appearance scheduled for Nov. 17 at the National Parts Peddler Trade Show at the New York State Fairgrounds, and interview NPP owner Corky Stockham.

Episode 51 ..::.. Back to the Future

In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, racing was rained out at Hagerstown, the drivers were already en route and racing in Charlotte and Black Rock postponed their event. So, with no interviews, we turn the reigns over to the fans. Through Livestream chat, the fans gave us topics and we did a lot of talking about our past experiences in the racing world. It was just like our first episode from way back when!

Jeff Hachmann, of DIRTcar, talks about the successes of Super DIRT Week and John debates the camping situation on the infield. Rocky Warner talks about his transition to Sportsman racing from the Pro Stock, and his love of the Full Fendered Division, and Jeremie Corcoran talks about the new surface going on Canandaigua Speedway, and breaks news regarding his 2013 Season Opener. He also announces he is working to secure several dates with Tony Stewart at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.

canandaigua will be opening with an open tire Sportsman event in April 2013.

Glen Ridge Motorsports Park will not be closing; more on that as it develops.

At Grandview, Duane Howard flipped in his heat race, and started 27th. He rallied to finish 2nd, and wrapped up the track title and the American Racer Cup, his second in three seasons.

Sept 10 at 11:30 am, the DIRTcar Modifieds will parade through Syracuse, starting at Destiny USA as prep for Super DIRT Week.

Episode 31 ..::.. No BS, No Politics

John thought it would be more fun to sit at home and watch the Prelude to The Dream on pay-per-view, the all-star late model event at Eldora Speedway that precedes the fabled ‘Late Model Dream.’ Chris cannot blame him at all.

Our first spontaneous call-in listener visits us on the air – twice – and asks if we have any tickets to give away before revealing he lives next door to Buzzie Reuitmann. We chat with Mike Mahaney about his upset win in the Ice Jam at Fonda Speedway and a 50-some racing schedule mapped out for 2012. We talk about infield seating and the different perspectives offered at various northeastern speedways, Billy Pauch Jr. discusses the stout field he faces at New Egypt Speedway and his first opportunity to run at the track weekly and Jessica Power chats about her very busy sportsman season and the challenges of crossing the border between the US and Canada through the summer.
