This week, we catch up with Jeremy Cady as the MudBoss RC series prepares for a 200 lap event at Radio Hill in Dundee, NY. Then, we talk with Weedsport Speedway promoter Jimmy Phelps about his hot start and the upcoming World of Outlaws Sprints event at his track.
We catch up with Jim Olin, who is organizing Finger Lakes Speedworld at the Fingerlakes Mall in Auburn. The event returns with a compliment of racecars, sanctioning bodies, and a variety of racing action (1/10th scale).
This week, we welcome Steve Pesarek to the 31st Lap, with car chief Billy Twist. Pesarek and Twist will be launching an assault again this year, with the plans of running a full crate late model in the Northeast. Pesarek has seen a resurgence in his career, spending time away from racing before a return to Canandaigua’s Pro Stock Class. Last year, the 69-year old pilot compiled seven wins.
This week, we turn our focus to the RC World. We will talk with Steve Salvas, race director at DirtCar Drummond, Granby and RPM Autodrome in Quebec, about the Salvas MudBoss racing division. The division is a new class that is taking shape at the Radio Hill Raceway in Dundee. It’s also a division at a few tracks in Pennsylvania, and Indiana. The eye-catching cars are based off the affordable Traxxas Slash 2WD cars, and Dan Pilat – among others – is wrapping the cars in vinyl to match several of DIRTcar and the northeast Modified scene’s top drivers. His brother, Eric Salvas, started the division and they each run the design for CustomWorks R. That company is owned by Tony Stewart, and features NASCAR-type RC cars.
