Start of the Post Season ..::… Episode 86

A full house welcomes Mike’s return to the 31st Lap Studio. Jimmy Blewett stops in to talk about his two-win weekend, taking dirt modified wins Thursday at Bridgeport and then backed that up Saturday at New Egypt. We also catch up with DIRTcar NE Marketing Director Jeff Hachmann, and a local race fan calls in to give his perspective on Rolling Wheels.

Episode 53 ..::.. Cobra Strikes Again

This week, we catch up with newly-crowned Empire Super Sprints Champion Chuck Hebing to recap the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints 2012 season, and then we chat with National Parts Peddler’s Corky Stockham about the NPP show, opening Friday at noon on the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. The 31st Lap will be doing a live remote there Saturday in the Finish Line Web Design booth from 3-4:30 pm.

Episode 52 ..::.. Three-Peat

We catch up with Matt Sheppard and talk about his third consecutive Mr. DIRTcar Modified Championship. Sheppard stands as the first driver to ever win three straight Mr. DIRTcar Modified titles. He also reveals plans to race at Black Rock Speedway between Friday’s Canandaigua Motorsports Park banquet and the DIRTcar Northeast banquet Saturday night.

We also preview our live appearance scheduled for Nov. 17 at the National Parts Peddler Trade Show at the New York State Fairgrounds, and interview NPP owner Corky Stockham.

Episode 51 ..::.. Back to the Future

In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, racing was rained out at Hagerstown, the drivers were already en route and racing in Charlotte and Black Rock postponed their event. So, with no interviews, we turn the reigns over to the fans. Through Livestream chat, the fans gave us topics and we did a lot of talking about our past experiences in the racing world. It was just like our first episode from way back when!

31st Lap Episode 49 ..::.. Come Camp Out

Jeff Hachmann, of DIRTcar, talks about the successes of Super DIRT Week and John debates the camping situation on the infield. Rocky Warner talks about his transition to Sportsman racing from the Pro Stock, and his love of the Full Fendered Division, and Jeremie Corcoran talks about the new surface going on Canandaigua Speedway, and breaks news regarding his 2013 Season Opener. He also announces he is working to secure several dates with Tony Stewart at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.

canandaigua will be opening with an open tire Sportsman event in April 2013.

Glen Ridge Motorsports Park will not be closing; more on that as it develops.

We return home for the first episode of our second season, celebrating our one year anniversary after spending the last week on the road with Super DIRT Week. We welcome Brett Hearn, the winner of the VP Small Engine Fuels 200 to the show, along with third-place finisher Jimmy Phelp and finish up with a chat with Danny Tyler, the narrow winner of Brett Deyo’s Short Track Super Nationals.

Mahaney won a guaranteed starting spot in winning the Fonda Season-ender, worth $12,000. Jeff Hachmann of DIRTcar Northeast then pops in to chat about the latest Super DIRT Week developments. Alex Bright comes in at the end to talk about his ARDC Win at New Egypt.

Episode 43 ..::.. Two Minute Warning

This week, we chat with first-time guest Frank ‘Bubba’ Burnell. We’ll also check in with Jeff Hachmann of DIRTcar.

We dive into a diverse mailbag, talk about Rich’s upcoming Sportsman endeavors and the wonders of Steak-flavored Great Value brand Potato Chips.

The mailbag prompts a spirited discussion between Rich and John on safety, and then age of kids allowed in the pit area.

At Grandview, Duane Howard flipped in his heat race, and started 27th. He rallied to finish 2nd, and wrapped up the track title and the American Racer Cup, his second in three seasons.

Sept 10 at 11:30 am, the DIRTcar Modifieds will parade through Syracuse, starting at Destiny USA as prep for Super DIRT Week.

Episode 39 ..::.. What Lies Ahead

This week, we welcome Betty Sherwood of the Spaulding Foundation for Injured Drivers to the 31st Lap to talk a little bit about the plight of race drivers and what lies ahead for them if injured. Beth also talks about an upcoming fundraiser regarding for the Spaulding Foundation in Watkins Glen.

Mike Payne drops in by phone to talk about the season as owner of the successful No. 27J driven by Danny Johnson on the DIRTcar Circuit and at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.

We also catch up with Jamie St. Mary, a member of the reknown PowerTeam in northern NY as he prepares for the upcoming Franklin County Fair in Malone, NY. There will be a full-size derby up there on Saturday August 4.

The Spalding Foundation will host the Celebrity Challenge race at Seneca Grand Prix Carts next Thursday Night, featuring Alan Bestwick and Jeff Green and Eric Darnell. Be sure to visit spaldingfoundation.org for details
