Every golfer knows it is sometimes most difficult to close out rounds when you are playing very well. The temptation to consider the possible scenarios over the remaining holes has golfers mentally filling out their scorecards before the final holes are even played. We’ll talk about how this scenario has played out recently in our own games and we’ll discuss how we played during July 4th weekend rounds at Ithaca Country Club, Silver Creek Golf Course, Seneca Falls Country Club and En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott. Also, Bob’s Pick of the Week is the Phil Mickelson short game DVD set, we recap the Greenbrier Classic, and talk about the rumor that Tiger Woods is dating Jason Dufner’s ex-wife.
The U.S. Open heads to the Pacific Northwest for the first time for the 115th edition of our national championship of golf. That’s just one of the things that will be new and different about this year’s version of the season’s second major. Rhett Ticconi returns in-studio after playing the host course, Chambers Bay, last year to lend some insight into what we can expect from the links-style course, the coverage from FOX Sports, and who will prevail on Sunday night.
Recapping Jordan Spieth’s wire to wire win at The Masters and evaluating Tiger, Mickelson and Rory’s week at Augusta. Also, local qualifying locations for Drive, Chip & Putt, some changes for the Post Standard Am, and why nobody really knows what is bad or what is good in our Zen Tip of the Week.
On the season finale we welcome Doug Brown into the FingerLakes1.com Studio to talk about what America needs to do to win back the Ryder Cup after getting destroyed by the Euros at Gleneagles this weekend. Then, we discuss the importance of changing your grips and show you how to change your own grips at home. What is the best way to go about buying a new set of golf clubs. We round out our Finger Lakes Dream 18 with holes 16, 17 and 18 before asking if the Zen golf approach is all it is cracked up to be.
